Total Healthcare's Wellness Support Team named as finalists in NZ Primary Healthcare Awards
Wellness Support Team

Total Healthcare is thrilled to be named as a finalist in the 2021 New Zealand Primary Healthcare Awards| He Tohu Mauri Ora.

The PHO's innovative Wellness Support programme is in the running for the Habit Health Best Mental Health Programme Award, which recognises the achievements of a community-based mental health programme or initiative that has made a significant positive impact on the lives of people with experiences of mental unwellness.

Carried out by our provider network, Tāmaki Health, and led by respected consultant psychiatrist Dr David Codyre, the Wellness Support team offers funded wellbeing services to Local Doctors patients. These range from psychiatry assessments and medication reviews to mindfulness support groups, health coaching and one-on-one counselling sessions. The team also provides ongoing education, support and advice for GPs and practice nurses to better recognise and understand patient and population needs with a holistic view.

Local Doctors clinics are located in communities with a high degree of deprivation and significant numbers of Māori, Pasifika and migrant families, whose unmet mental and physical health needs are major contributors to health inequality.

The awards will be announced at the Cordis Hotel on 15 May.
